2021 was a brutal, emotional, terrible, wonderful year full of growth and heartbreak. There are many directions I could go with this post. This is actually my 3rd attempt at this post, lol! So I have finally decided that rather than doing a full recap, I am going to do a countdown. In this post, you will be able to find 5 musicians that I loved this year, 4 lessons I have learned (or am currently learning), 3 accomplishments from this year, 2 of my struggles, and 1 thing I look forward to in 2022.
5 musicians I loved this year:
- Taylor Swift
- Olivia Rodrigo
- Lewis Capaldi
- Maverick City Music
- James Bay
4 lessons I have learned:
- Don’t forget to show yourself the kindness you show others because you deserve it!
- Rest is essential, not a luxury. You can’t run on coffee & no sleep!
- You need to grow & become healthy in the shadows before you even consider stepping into the spotlight
- Your grades, level of achievements, or the number of tasks completed DO NOT determine your worth. God does!
3 achievements:
- I graduated high school
- I got my first big girl job & I love it
- I completed my first semester of college
2 Struggles:
- This year was a challenging year for my family because of my uncle’s passing. After he passed away, I struggled to trust in God. I am still trying to get to a place where I can fully trust God.
- Valleys/Mountains by Victory Family Worship is a song that is helping me learn to trust God again (linked below)
- This year I have had to have multiple, constructive conversations with my program directors because I am apparently too hard on myself🤷🏻♀️ For so long, I have had so much control over my life and put so much pressure on myself. Training myself to relinquish control and accept that I cannot plan for everything has been a major struggle this year.
1 thing I look forward to in 2022:
Not going to lie; after how terrible and unpredictable the last two years have been, I am a tad apprehensive about what 2022 will hold. However, I am looking forward to finishing my 1st year at VFLC and declaring my practicum. I cannot wait to see what God will do through me throughout the spring semester and then eventually what all I will learn when I begin to focus solely on one practicum!
